I really can’t justify another car (I have 4 atm) so is anyone interested in one of the 115 Jetta syncros that came over here ;)

Cheers for the response guys … I’ve already got 15″ wheels on and don’t really fancy any bigger.
I’ll just have to live with it as is.

Totally agree with the above…. Glad this place is back [:D]

Front springs should fit and afaik are the same height so if you want it lower you’ll need lowering springs.
Rear springs will be too big, but you could of course cut them down …..

I’ll check bearings next and cv as well. I was sure it was the brakes myself, that’s why I had them off this weekend, I re-adjusted the handbrake at the same time as well, so that’s fine.

The brakes are fine, I had the drums off last weekend. The noise I hear is like a whirring noise and only really happens when I press the accelerator ..

The part that really needs replacing is where it bends around the rear suspension and drive shaft, so rear section really.

I assumed even a golf back box would need modifying for a Jetta, but wasn’t sure how much or how bad it would be.

If theres no option I can always get the current exhaust bodged until funds allow a new system.

Seconded on the flush cooling system, also change the rad fan switch.

My Jetta was overheating when I got it and doing a flush and new switch sorted it out. The rad fan switch cost me £6, so you might as well just change it, it rules out one thing straightaway.

I’ve just been having a bit of a hunt for somewhere that would do me a new exhaust for the Jetta and found a couple of places locally that said they could make me one up no problems, even after I explained the differences compared to a standard Jetta and a golf syncro.

http://customperformance.co.uk/ Quoted me £300 for a complete system with choice of back boxes.
http://www.dynoflow.co.uk/ Quoted me £350 for a single exhaust and £400 for twin.
Both of these places came recommended from people in my local VW club as they had made bespoke systems for them before. So ask around for local recommendations mate, you might be pleasantly surprised

I’m prob going to be getting one made by customperformance when I get some spare cash ;)

This is actually quite common, usually done with a 2l bottom end with the original head.
    Check out the following ;)

I might be interested in a group buy as well, just have to decide what heads going on the Jetta :D

This now leaves me with an issue as I have a head from a 1.6GTi that was supposed to be going on my Scirocco, so it would possibly fit the Jetta as well?
The head is ported/polished, flowed inlet/exhaust, 285 cam and also has a 4 branch attached.

Thanks for that dannyp. I thought that 40’s would be a tight fit but didn’t realise they’d be that tight, I think I’ll give them a miss then and just go for the PB head and single weber.

Is a k-jet dizzy an improvement over the standard one then? I’d not heard of that and might even have a spare one lying around somewhere.

Can I get a bit more info on blocking the injector holes on the PB head please.

Sounds like it might be my next move as well …. anyone done a PB head with twin 40’s [;)]
