Well i’ve put some mk2 coilovers on the front, and matched the height of the rears, which I’ve kept stock…feels nice and stiff, but might also try some stock mk3 VR6 items, and see which feels best…

I still want to save for better items, but for now, it’s good to get the old stock fronts off as i feel they’re past their best…

    Ok final question

Can I fit normal mk2 rear coilovers??

as they should end up shorter than the standard suspension as i will have them wound down a bit??

    Thanks

Brought it home – to hoover and clean it (it having stood for 6 months)

Now just need to fit ball joint – and find a rear shocker and then back to MOT!!!!!

    Thanks for this Chris

I reckon i’ll go for some standard struts then – as one rear has failed on the MOT.

Is it just as easy to change as normal mk2 rear suspension?

If you get in touch with Volkwagon – your local dealership – give them your reg – and it’s on the computer that your car was 100% serviced – ask nicely – and they may stamp your book – Audi Newcastle did this for me a few years back on my Cabriolet…

    Mark from Gateshead

Picked up a RHD 5 Door 1.8 GU syncro in blue……needs a little care – only interior and body work planned – just to keep it looking nice….tempted by an engine upgrade – but would rather buy one done or get a rally – neither of which i have the money for….

    How about £1600?
And thats a well informed estimate based on actual recent sales.
