excuse my ignorance, would a 16v head fit onto a 1.8 8v bloke without any problems? iam going to run bike carbs i think so won’t need to worry bout any of the injection stuff so what i really want is a head i can bolt straight on and then put the bike carbs on and go but what else would i need to get or look at. soory for all the questions but i want to get all the possible info before i pay money to get it all done. thanks dannyp for your last post
holmesMembersorry scrap that gona try and get a crossflow head.
holmesMemberfinally the suspension is sorted and now sits as follows;
– new second hand painted and re-oiled diff
-sandplasted and hammerited rear beam and trailing arms
-fitted with powerflex bushes all round
-new technik german lowered shockers (with help from chris)
-weitec passat 35i springs all round 2 coils chopped off the rears and 1/2 a coil chopped from the front.
-rear 20mm rallye anti-rollbarhad a few issues with the top mount fittings on the front springs, solved by cutting 4cm off the top end of the coil. once lowered the car sat really well and low at the back and slightly to high at the front but i will be chopping half a coil off tommorow so this should sort that problem out. Changed all the shocks and springs in my hour and a half lunch break not bad me thinks. haven’t driven it yet as iam back at work but looking forward to the drive home woop woop.[]
holmesMemberwell iam definatly going to be getting bike carbs me thinks. So what i think i need is a manifold fabricated, 4 bike carbs, maybe an electric fuel pump or will it run on the existing front mounted engine pump,( mine is a 1.8 8v carb not injection)and a new set of fuel jets or i think i have heard that you can drill the existing jets? am i missing anything?
holmesMembertrouble is dcoe’s are fairly expensive whereas bike carbs are a fraction of the price, i have had a look on the vw polo boys sites and golf sites and there using them with good gains it seems and they are also easier to fit the only real question is these are carbs right? so i have seen injection holes on some of the guys bike carbs, i was assuming they were like ordinary carbs ie attatch the fuel line to the back and away you go? if they have injection surely you need an ecu? i may be wrong hence why iam enquiring.[]
