Hello,
In continuation to what I have asked, and been replied, I have replaced the hanger bearings with new, but the vibration is still there.
I have replaced the bearings this time, as well as the propshaft CV joint boots, and I do not think the matching of each 3 pieces of the propshaft is messed up as my mechanic had the marking of the original position.
I am so mystified as I have no idea what could be the cause…
The symptom is the same, massive bodily vibration under acceleration/load, and it seems to be much more apparent over 80km/h.
The bearings have oval installation holes and the mechanic said by changing the orientation of the bearings it seems to lighten the vibration a bit.
Can anyone give me any clue as to what I should do with this please???
G19ParticipantIndeed the vibration occurs only when accelerating/there is a load.
Hmm, I guess the bearings are shot then.
I am looking for where I can get the replacement.
G19Participantpm sent.
G19Participantpm sent!
G19ParticipantHi,
In fact I am awaiting the vents to arrive, as I consider distributing in JPNese market if there is enough demand.
I suppose you can get a hold of the seller, Northviking at below email.

Contact: Bo HolmvallHope above helps.

G19ParticipantHi, I am interested. Where are you located?
G19ParticipantHello Chris,
Mine does have knuckles from Mk3, which I used to upgrade to 256mm GTI brake.
I suppose I can use the calipers and brake pads that I have now.
Given that, I would only need the carriers but if the price is so low, I might as well get as a set…
G19ParticipantHello
I measured, and it took almost 3.0 turns lock to lock.
G19ParticipantThat makes good sense, but when I tried the GPS speed on 2000 Lincoln LS, the reading was just right on the gauge.
Maybe the tire wear and other conditions were just right so the readings matched.
Thanks.
G19ParticipantThis is very nice to know if someone is considering the upgrade to the cable shift gearbox.
How much should one be looking at to do all these aside the labor??
G19ParticipantHi,
Mine reads approximately 5km/h above the actual speed measured by GPS speed sensor, VBOX.
I see there are 2 speedo gears so changing the gear to the other one might correct the reading??
G19ParticipantHi dw069,
Mine suffered from the same and I have to say I hated it.
With the info from various members here, the spring sagged over time was clear, and the only way to fix it will be to get a new spring, or to use Passat spring with mods.
I was a bit against the idea of having the spring modified at the time, cut 2-3 rounds, so what I have done to my G Syncro was to put a spacer hub between the lower seat and the spring itself.I wish I could show a picture but I do not know how…
Can someone show me how to attach??
G19ParticipantHi re2, Chris,
Thanks for the information, but they were somewhat more expensive than I expected… []
G19ParticipantHi Chris,
Glad to see you back on the board again!!
