colbo3765MemberNice car. I have a 1990 Country in Montana Green. Bolt stock. Not showground condition yet but I am working on it. I will post some pics soon. Does anyone on here know where I might be able to get the bit of tin that protects the end of the gearbox (n/s) and bolts on to the engine undertray. Mine seems to have been lost at some stage in the life of the car.
colbo3765MemberHi Chris,
Thanks for your help on this. I have had a good read through and have just been checking with the local suppliers. It looks like I can get most of the stuff here in the UK from VW with the exception of the parts #19 in the post. These may be available from Germany as not showing as obsolete or via classic VW I think. i will get on with the job! really appreciate your help on this. The disc conversion looks tempting but I am in a mind to keep the car as ‘stock’ as possible given that it hasnt been messed around with in any way. Thanks again for your help. i will post some pics of the car when I get a chance to have it back from the mechanics! all the best, Colin

For a disc brake conversion you need to start with a pair of these

btw the price asked for the caliper carriers is for a single item & not for a pair!
colbo3765MemberHi there, I have just bought a 1990 Golf Country. Fantastic car and I am very pleased with it. I am just getting a few things sorted out, engine serviced, gearbox oils all changed etc. It is in pretty good condition really with about 110k miles on it now. Originally from Germany like a few over here in the UK. It is the Montana Green version and is pretty much bolt stock from what I can tell. I am running it on the original Speedline alloys with snow tyres so I am hoping for a deterioration in the weather! I am searching the forums as I am having problems with the rear drums. Got new shoes but some of the adjuster parts are worn and I cannot find replacements anywhere. Can you do a disc brake conversion on the Country? I see that a few Rallye/syncro conversions have been done but I dont see anything specific to the Country.
