I hope the image link works – this is it now. The photo is from the Practical Classics feature shoot when it was on the cover last year.
The heater matrix is one of those jobs that’s easy when you’ve done one. Bottom trays and centre console have to come out but the dashboard can stay in. I wasn’t sure if you do, but if you want to convert to RHD (I personally wouldn’t, LHD in the UK is fine for me
) the matrixs are different. VW still sell a matrix that fits LHD Mk2s, it is a Seat Ibiza/Polo Sedan part. Your local dealer can order it using the original part number as ETKA will tell them the new one.It’s taking long enough but the car is slowly coming back together. A new chin spoiler is on the shopping list.
I know. I could break it for far more than it will do on the ‘bay but I saved it in the first place so I don’t want to be responsible for its destruction. I’ve got a new old stock cluster with it as well as the one in the car is an 8 valve one.

I want £1200 for it which is super cheap compared to the amount of money it’s had lavished on it in Genuine VW parts
I’m told a German expat took it down there and left it there – the previous owners were Brits from Wakefield of all places! There are plenty of big hills that get snow just behind the Costa Brava, I suppose it made some sense up there
I think I’ve got one sorted now – I should be going to Spain to pick up a Syncro GT 3dr later this month

I’ve just started at the beginning and worked my way through. I should get my Syncro at the end of this month (hopefully) I’d love to see an update on this. That’s a great colour – there are a fair few rare Mk2 colours that you just don’t see.
