Hello from Ohio, in cheeseburger and firearm heavy Yankland![8D]
I tried a few months ago, and never got the email activating the account, so I didn’t think it took. Emails to the admin bounced back…

Giving up on 195.224.48.116.
I forgot I had tried once, and tried again, and the same thing happened. Cheers to Trev16V for helping me out.[]
I’ve just received a rod change syncro trans, ARM code, the customer wants it rebuilt, along with the transfer case, so at some point I’ll hopefully be making another web page like the Teardown and Rebuild pages up currently, but it’ll cover this Syncro trans[:p]
Before it gets built, I’m taking it and the bearings and sync rings to a cryogenic place here in Ohio to have it all cryo treated. I also plan to have my stock of bearings treated if possible, so all my rebuilds will at least get cryo treated bearings, which if what I read is correct, should increase their service life 300%, which is quite nice!
Any info concerning the rebuild of these would be appreciated! I’ve searched the forums, and found the 020 Rodchange Gearbox Repairs forum… http://www.vwsyncro.co.uk/data/forums/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=45 but after following the links to the end, I had a good laugh, but it wasn’t the info I was hoping to find![]
Ideally, that link will eventually actually contain syncro specific info!

Welcome Brian, and pleased to have helped!
sorry it didn’t work initially brian – sometimes we don’t seem to get the emails the server sends out…
No problems, it’s all sorted now!
I’ve not started on the syncro yet, but I did get weights for the cryo treatment place, and the trans itself was about 76 lbs (5.4 stone), with the transfer box, right side prop shaft, and hollow coupler tube weighing in at about 27 lbs (1.9 stone).
I’ve got a couple syncro/country VIN numbers from the kind folks at CGTI, and have submitted those to VW asking for info on the specs of the box, I’m hoping they have something handy.
I’ll post a link of the page when I get it built[]

As promised, a link to the rebuild page, as I’ve completed the trans and angle drive unit.
There are a LOT of pics though, 170+, and it isn’t a detail rebuild page as much as it is just a bunch of pics I snapped for the customer while building it. I did try to include some info like turning torque and so on, but it isn’t a fully detailed report, because stuff like the lash of the angle drive I didn’t do.[:p]

What an exellent link that is, an education for us all! Good work & thank you for placing it on here
I have only one question though and that is why did you use the VW jointing compound on the casings instead of the VW gasket set or is that not available in America?
