bought off one of this forum’s members a few years ago to fit to the golf I had at the time, which unfortunately rusted to bits and got scrapped. Got 16v’s everywhere else so really no need for it now
It’s been stored indoors in a warm, dry room since then so it’s basically as it was the day it arrived. It has some bits with it but I’ve now idea what they are for or if that’s all you need, but the choke-cable is included. ChrisS can probably advise as to what extra is needed.
I’ve never tested it so whilst I was assured it works when I bought it, can’t make any guarantees about it’s functionality. I dare say a can of carb cleaner is probably all it needs to restore it to its former glory.
I’m done with restoring stuff I’m not going to use so here it is, as it is.
I’m looking for £50 + £8 UK postage, by paypal. No cash, cheques or collection ta. Email to ld50@vwsyncro.co.uk
It’ll be posted same day it’s paid for. It’ll be well packaged and can go either by recorded or parcelforce whichever you prefer, depending on whether you want a signature or not. UK Postage works out to £8 either way. For non UK please email beforehand for postage price.
I’ve watched a few clean ones go on ebay for £80-85, this one’s mucky with unclear fitment Hence £50.
Pics taken today:
Those extra bits look suspiciously like the VW 1500/1800 fitting kit,
so all you should need extra is a spot of sealant just in case the VW rubber base gasket leaks with being disturbed,
after all it has been sat quietly for 20 years on the top of the inlet manifold. []
bonzer! I never got it anywhere near my syncro so never got to see how complete it was. If you let me know how to check the jet sizes I’ll do so.
bump
The primary choke is the one that opens first and the 4 jet assemblies are shown inbetween the 2 chokes in your 2nd photo,
to remove just unscrew them with a good fitting screwdriver (they are made of brass and are very soft and easily damaged)
Jet Sizes
Primary Choke
Main Jet 117
Air corrector 145
Emulsion tube f30
Idle jet 55
Secondary Choke
Main 127
Air corrector 200
Emulsion tube f33
Idle jet 60
So those are the sizes needed for a GU motor then?
Yes they are.
Ok well I just checked and I go these figures from the 4 brass bits in the pic you mention.
From the left:
1) 55
2) Emulsion tube F30
Main jet 120
3) Emulsion tube F25
Main jet 125
4) 60
Sorry I didn’t see the air corrector bit … looks like the jets are about half right.
thanks for the info chris
The air corrector jets are the ones with the screwdriver slot in them where you remove the complete assembly.
