Okay someone let me know how the diaphragm works? Does it disconnect the diff as long as the motor is in vacuum?
My car is now Syncro swapped but I have not addressed this yet.
Thanks!
It controls the freewheel lock, so you have 4wd in reverse as well as the forward gears.
Okay thanks! I don’t think I’m going to wire/plumb it in as I’m in the desert and it wouldn’t see snow. My understanding is that it only deals with reverse and slippage.
Thoughts?
If you get stuck (in the Desert or in sand) & are trying to back out the way you came in (& got stuck) then 4WD in reverse might just be a good thing!
Haha if I get stuck in the desert here then you should probably take my car from me!
Thanks for the help Chris, I don’t think I’m going to mess with it for now.
Chris, one more question. I’d like rear vr6 control arms but I have only found 1 set on german eBay for 400 euros. Is that a decent price? I know they must be rare.

Yes thats what they cost, btw only the Golf VR6 control arms are wide track the Passat VR6 ones are std track!
Good to know! Thanks!
Why are the VR6 rear control arms better?
wider track
and thats about it
Ohh, okay, I don’t want that.
They are only 1 cm either side wider as well
What is the factory track, front and rear, of the Mk2 Golf Syncro?
