Every day before the car warms up or when i’ve been on the motorway for a while the carb is sticking open, also when i switch the car off when it’s sticking it still continues to splutter, a squeeze of the pedal is sometimes enough to stop this but not always.
Tomorrow morning im considering drowning the whore in wd40 to try and give it some lubrication will this work until i upgrade to a weber?
Also im looking for information about air filters for the weber, nowhere is coming up trumps for a 32/34 filter.
You use the same air filter that & ducting you had when you had the original pooberg carb!
well thats just going to look boring, i want people to know without me having to open my mouth.
bolt on filters dont work very well,
I’ve fitted a webber carb on my 91 syncro, it’s got a Crome cover with a filter in it. I think you’ll be looking for something like it.
When driving it makes a nice loud raw, really making me want to drive hard! Love it best thing I ever did to it. (appart from raising it!)
I got it off a scrap golf, so not sure where you can get one, although I think my brother might have one for sale, as he accidently won two on eBay! When his crappy pienberg carb stopped working.
I’ll ask him and post update.

My insurance chaps are really nice as long as i tell them everything and don’t have a massive change from stock, i think im allowed to push it by an extra 30bhp without suffering any price hikes.
Brentacre are the chaps, they’re a load of Welsh dubbers who know what a syncro is and went “ohhh nice” when i changed my insurance a couple of months ago.
Spoke to my brother, his carb is designed to fit under the existing plastic air box, so I guess your not interested in that.
If you decide you are then he said he paid £120 for it and is open to sensible offers.
It is the same carb, its only the air filter that is different.
The carb you want for your car is the weber DMTL.
Fast Road Cars http://www.fastroadcars.co.uk/ sells complete kits for your car to ditch that nasty Pierburg.

Great people, very helpful. Will deal with them only for all my Carb needs from now on.
Here’s my DMTL, topped w/ a K&N Open Element Filter
Here’s a comparison of the two carbs, notice how much simpler the DMTL is compared to the 2E2. Also notice how much larger the ports are on the DMTL.
The kit they sell comes with everything you need to install the carb. (even a new petrol filter!)
I’ve got a DTML sitting here if you’re interested… no fitting kit tho.
