Back from uni now so started doing some work on the syncro however [] when taking off the outer nuts holding the ARB in place the bolt on the actual arm of the car snapped so now it just spins around.
Is it a captive nut that can be reach? or am I buggered [!]
If you can get a nut splitter on it?

you can then remove the mounting bracket & reweld the stud back in the arm.
How do you get to the inside where the top of the stud is?
You dont, you will have to spot weld it back from outside, or you could push it inside & then tap a thread & fit a bolt if the metal is thick enough, which I am not sure about []
Bummer! [!]
cheers though dude
Possibly you could cut a big hole in the top of the arm with a hole saw, than weld a bolt in the arm (from the inside) then weld the access hole up again.
I cant really think of any other options, other than changing the complete arm.
Cut it all out and then re weld it, I had to do some thing similar to my brother in law’s golf.
Make sure to seam weld everything after or they won’t like it.
I had snapped off the bolt on the lower suspension arm and cut off the Vw spot welds then re did it. And the Mot man failed me, even tho I’d welded it back exactly as it was!
Hope you manage it.
Mikes
we’re not talking about the sub-frame mounts here are we? (confused as to which bolt broke).
I’ve just done that repair on the missus’ gti (having done it on my syncro too in the past)
(mental note: use a nut splitter to remove rear anti-roll bar, then just buy new nuts….)
OK, logged in the memory banks. I have to do this soon, because the bushings are splitting.
