Got information from VRT, it’s possible to get a shifting box that fits the Mk2/3 tunnel ann accepts the 02M shifting box internals.

    Part# are:
    6N0 711 061 A House
    6N0 711 090 A Ground plate
    6N0 711 611 C Choise arm

there are pics on the site.

In first instance I tried using the TT shifter assembly by modifying the housing so it would fit inside the MkII tunnel section. When fitted I wasn’t satisfied with the result, both sides of the shifter housing were in contact with the tunnel which would result into vibration/noise. The solution would be using the shifter housing from the 2000 model VW Polo. Part# 6N0 711 061A for the shifter housing, Part# 6N0 711 090A for the bottom plate. The Polo shifter housing is a direct bolt-in only thing that needed to be done is to bolt all the related parts into the new housing. While doing so I noticed that the sideways shifter arm also needed to be replaced by the Polo item due to the fact that the Polo housing is smaller in width compared to the TT housing and therefore there’s not enough room for the shifter arm to operate, the Polo arm is flat design while the TT arm is bended (see pic2). The Part# of the Polo shifter arm is 6N0 711 611C. Due the fact I had removed the original mounting brackets in the attempt to fit the TT shifter assembly I had to buy new items. Part# 6N0 803 875 and 876. Welded them in and installed the shifter assembly.

    Part list:
    6N0 711 061A shifter
    6N0 711 090A base plate
6N0 711 611C shifter arm, mk4 one does not fit!

6N0 803 875/876 if brackets are cut out of tunnel
