I’ve got a bit of a problem. since i put my 16v turbo engine into the car i’ve had some problems with the shift cables rubbing on the propshaft. this sounds awful and will eventually destroy the cable sleeves.

my biggest problem is the downpipe, it gets in the way of the normal routing of the cables.

i’ve used some patentband to get the cable out of the way of the doughnut. however they are a bit too long. and i cannot get them to sit how i want to. its either rubbing on the doighnut, the propshaft (behind the doughnut) or the downpipe.

sooo… how much of a difference is there on the passat vs. golf shiftcables? they do have different partnumbers. but no info as of the length. and cannot find much info on the big ‘ol iternet.

    any info is good info

    thanks

What down pipe do you have in the car? I assume you have the Golf 02C cables? I thought they were the same, along with the Mk3 Golf Syncro too.

since its a 16v turbo its pretty much home made this downpipe :)

i’m using passat cables. the gol2/2/corrado cables have a different part number

i just need to know if there are a difference in their length

I’ve searched and searched and the length doesn’t seem to be posted anywhere.

If I remember correctly the Passat cables are about an inch longer, but it could just be my memory playing tricks!
