hi guys,i’m looking for a spare rear golf mk2 syncro rear axle to make a haldex conversion..i found a passat g60 syncro complete one and a mk3 vr6 syncro one…are they the same as mine?i know that there’s differences in the lenght of the trailing arms,is it right?can i use my trailing arms on a mk3 or a passat g60 syncro axle?
    thank you very much!

i found a passat g60 syncro complete one. Its the same as your Golf but with thicker side bearings

and a mk3 vr6 syncro one, Wide track, this is the one you want to use including the trailing arms, as this is where the track increase is! also every thing is newer than your G2 rear axle , but you will need the VR6 Syncro side brackets as it uses larger bushes,

side brackets?i don’t understand what do you mean!
so it’s a bit better than the mk2 one,but if i want to use mk3 vr6 syncro axle with mk2 syncro trailing arms,is it possible?

Why? as its the trailing arms that give the 20mm track increase, but if you want to you can run the set up you suggest.

all you need to do is swap out the VR6 differential (complete) and fit the 4 cylinder diff

The side mounting brackets are where the axle carrier bolts onto the floorpan in front of the rear wheels, 1 upper & lower per side.

just to know!as i found the vr6 rear axle without trailing arms!
have you got any pic of the side mounting brakets?i understand what part it is but i don’t understand what’s the difference between mk2 and mk3 model…

While the Golf 3 brackets will readily bolt onto the Golf2 underbody (all mounting holes line up) they have been designed to fit the Golf3 floorpaan & have a different shape at the front. I will try & take photos tomorrow (if the weather is fit)

    Thank you very much chris!

Do you know if the VR6 rear anti roll bar can fit the mk2 rear axles and if it’s any bigger than the rallye or passat g60 ones?

(i know there’s a little difference between them, but i can’t understand why, as you said the rear passat g60 syncro axle is the same as the golf mk2/ralle but with thicker bearings..

The VR6 anti roll bar will fit the Golf2 Syncro, but its only 18.5mm diameter (same as the standard G2 Syncro one) the Rallye/Passat bar is 20mm diameter.

isn’t the passat one a little larger than the rallye one?

so if i wanted wide track

i could use my rallye rear beam but get a pair of mk3 vr6 trailing arms and i would gain 20mm each side ?

as i have rallye rear axle mounts and power flex bushes already ?

so could use my rallye arb ?

    cheers
