Good day fellow syncronauts
i’m having some problems with my differential oilseal (rear CV flanges and VC)
almost no oil left in my diff as it leaks from all of these oilseals
the oilseals are a bit less then one year old (was bought at the local vw dealer) so they are original
so, “MOT” time is coming up soon, and i need this to be leak free, i know the lids has to be bought at the dealer, but the oilseals themself could be bought other places
and this is my problem, the sizes. ekta says they are 50x65x10. but i’m thinking more the the way of altering the thickness of the seals, inorder to get the seal-lip out of the old groove
would 9mm or 11/12mm work?
exhaust and oilseals are on my list to get it to pass inspection
which also leads me to another question, and this is the exhaust part, i really need a new exhaust from the cat and backwards
i’m currently using a pretty restrictive stock 1P exhaust
but hard to find after market exhaust for these cars which isn’t priced to hell and beyond (SLS on ebay, 1300euro – Superprint on ebay, about 500euro)…
any insight is highly welcome for my part
dan
That should work on the oil seals
here are some exhaust systems

or a std set, which probably isn’t as restrictive as you think it is

only last one actually fits without modifications

True, for the others you need the Passat Syncro Manifold, Downpipe & Cat, did you not save them off the Passat you bought?
are you ever going to remember that i’m running the G60 engine in my car?
G60, with passat running gear (02C) with dual CAT and passat G60 manifold and downpipe etc etc etc
Yes but I didnt know which front exhaust you were using, as both will fit the G60 head
So the first 4 will fit but you need a Rallye Golf underfloor fuel pump set up, or an in tank pressure pump!
the appropiate heatshields would probably be a good idea as well

btw I have a rear diff here if you would like me to see if the drive flanges are grooved?
the diff gears are missing a couple of teeth so you can have just the flanges if you like?
i’ve got a few spare diffs so no biggie
this set is nice, but expensive, and needs rallye fuelpump setup (so i’ve been told, but i havn’t seen any differences on the pump on mine vs the rallye)
or you got this:

but they don’t ship over to norway

I’m curious as to how well that SuperSprint setup would work with a small-bumper car, as it says it’s for a Rallye Golf…. I would assume the tailpipe would stick out a bit too far, wouldn’t it?
I had a supersprint backbox fitted to my original Syncro, it fitted ok but was a bit to noisy for me.
It did make a nice growly sound though. []
i don’t mind a bit more noise, as long as i don’t get that drone around 3000rpm
So just drive faster then… []
Cruising at Autobahn speeds (130km/h) I’m at around 4,000 revs anyway, so the 3,000 rev drone is a non-issue for me, lol
good for you max speed here in norway is 100, and thats just for a few selected roads
mostly its max 80kph i’m afraid
