Greetings. I’m Mark from Amsterdam, run a company called Dream & Drive. Just bought myself a Golf Country. His name is Tonka. Great car, completely original I think, not been messed around with at all, 99% good. Got some niggles with the central locking (on the drivers door) needs a sort out and the sun roof leaks lol. Not bad for 23 years old. Recently had a full service, 140K kms, new thermostat in the engine, new clutch. The rest is pretty standard. Love it!
Can’t’ seem to upload a photo here!.. more complicated than the sycro!..

Morten here from Norway. I have 2 Mk3 Golf Syncros that I am currently breaking. I am taking both drivetrains with me to the U.S. this winter when I move back there. I am also breaking 3 Golf Mk3 Citystromers. These are super rare battery powered Golfs. The plan, once in the States, is to get at least one Mk3 Cabrio and convert it to an all Electric Cabrio Syncro. Since it would be difficult to add a/c, I think a Cabrio might be a good solution. I would prefer to just ship the cars over, but since the are Euro versions, they can’t be registered in the U.S. The last picture shows 2% of all mk3 Citystromers ever made. (about 200 were made between 1995-1998) 3 of them are mine, the 4th belongs to my brother.
welcome to the site 🙂 And wow, what a cool collection you have!
You might want to post some of the bits for sale in the for sale section though: https://forum.vwsyncro.co.uk/forums/forum/buy-sell/parts-cars-for-sale/

Ok. Though at this time I might need all the parts:) If anyone needs parts from the 1.8 liter, or interior parts, I might have some.
Hello all, my name is Thrasyvoulos, short Thras, I am from Greece and I have had a VR6 Corrado since 2016. Even before I bought it, I was dreaming of converting it for a syncro. Finally I found a vr6 passat donor that is only missing the engine. I have a lot to learn! Thans to everyone for having me!
Hi all
I have just become the proud owner of a 1987 Mk2 LHD Golf Syncro.
It was destined for the breakers as it had failed its Control Technique (French version of the MOT) and the garage said there was 3000 euros of welding to do on it to get it through, along with the handbrake not working, the brakes being bad, some lights not working, one seatbelt being damaged, the exhaust blowing, oil coming out of the engine and some rusty door panels being dangerous. It all sounds pretty bad, but looking at the car, its not that bad at all.
I have ordered a new exhaust, some glass fibre to go over the flaky bits on the doors, a hadbrake lever (it was the pawl teeth that had worn out) from Latvia and a seat belt from the UK.
I am based half and half in the French alps and in the Welsh mountains, and this car is out in France at the moment. But I am thinking I will bring it back to the UK to get the bodywork done (all auto work is super expensive in France and they really seem to cut corners and are not as ‘into’ old cars as in the UK).
The welding underneath seems to be just the back of the rear right foot well having a hole big enough to put your fist through in it. There is a mention on the MOT papers about a small crack in a horizontal cross member, I can’t see this myself, but it probably needs looking at and welding up. Painting and bodywork is not my thing, so I will be looking for someone good to do this.
All the rest of the mechanical and engine stuff I am good with and will slowly pick away at it bit by bit till I have it all back in good working order. I have seen a thread on here about putting discs on the back and will almost certainly go down that route. It has winter tyres on the steel wheels at the moment so I may get some alloys to put summer tyres on so I can swap over with the seasons.
I am looking forward to learning all about this car and getting it back up and running like a dream.
Cheers for now
Phil
Hi guys,
New here, I don’t technically have a syncro at the moment but I have my project which I am converting to syncro.
It is a 84 mk2 Jetta coupe. I’ve had it since 2005 when I immigrated to the U.K. She started life as a C spec car but is currently a bare shell!
Regards
Daniel
Hi Dan, Welcome on board, would you like to start a build thread?
they are very helpful to people attempting to do the same
BTW where are you based
Hiya mate, I’m in Scotland north of Aberdeen. I will get a build thread up once I get the chance. I have one on my local vw forum at the moment but, not sure if it can be seen if you aren’t a member.
