ParticipantHi everyone,
a while ago I introduced myself in the New members topic. Now I have the firs proper topic

My Mk2 Golf syncro has now been prepped for paint, but I still need to decide on the color. I want to paint it in some sort of blue metallic paint, but there are soo many
.What do you think are good colors for a 5-door Golf mk2?
I was thinking of these: http://www.volksforum.com/albums/files/3/3/8/3/Afbeelding070_84042.jpg
or this: http://www.dub05.com/14.JPG
Thanks for the help!
PS. anybody happens to know the colour codes for these colours??

ParticipantThe first one is great – go for it. The G2 is such a discrete and tasteful car that something subtle like that will work really well.
The second one is just too showy for my tastes and it’s got super McTossathon BBS crossspokes on it – just my opinion.

ModeratorHere is what is probably a partial list of VW blue colour codes from the relevent time, always assuming that it is a VW colour, btw the 1st car is a 1990 Golf GTI G60 (2wd) first registered on 08-04-90
01.08.1987 >> 31.07.1992
COLOUR PAINT CODE
CAPRI BLUE K5E
MARINE BLUE A5B
MEDIUM BLUE H5G
ORLY BLUE METALLIC — P5Z — I know its not this one
SLATE BLUE H5V
STAR BLUE METALLIC D5TJanuary 27, 2008 at 6:08 pm #3935meijan
ParticipantThanks Chris, I’ll look into them!
I also looked on http://www.doppel-wobber.de for the original mk2 colours, but those samples are a bit too small…This is the best pic of the car I have before it being sanded down: http://meijans.hyves.nl/fotos/164671956/0/nrjE/
By the way, normally a Golf has a sticker in the boot with the chassis number, colour code and all the factory options. Should it also be there in a syncro?? I couldn’t find it, and off course, the service manual is missing on such an old car (first registered in ’89, although it appears to have been built in ’87).

ModeratorYes the sticker should also be there on a Syncro.
I just looked at your photo & both my brother in law & my step daughter have 1991 golf 2 in blue, luckily enough they both live within 5 kilometers of me here in Emmeloord, I will post photos & paint codes of their cars this week [
