Ok. Now i got new problem with this new engine. Spark ignition distributor is some how different than that on old 1p engine which controls timing advance with Suction/air pressure and this PF uses different method (electrical?). My mechanic said he can change those like bolt-on.
The 1P engine should have the non vacuum advance distributer fitted,
if the vacuum advance has been connected up to the manifold? you will need to block the vacuum pipe up when you remove it.

yes those three threads. Thanks for advice.

Ok. thank you. where would i be without this forum. [].
So how does it adjust timing then? Can you tell me differences of 1P and PF timing adjustment system?
As i said i have one mechanic friend doing this engine swap, becouse i dont have space for that, neither knowledge enough. And Hes not familiar with this car. So will see where are we going with this.

No problem mate, I can take pictures of the insert if you like, I know the outer thread of the insert is the same thread as a spark plug.
In this picture you can see the inserts are removed from 2 of the holes. I can take more pictures but this is what I had on my pc to show you.
Chris S: Vagcat shows that there is vacuum unit in distributor. 1991 model.
Ademaxx: that looks just like my VC but with the difference of my thread inserts look like broken helicoils
The threads that hold the inserts in must have stripped then. Only way I can see of doing it is to drill them out bigger then have new inserts machined to fit.
Can you see inside the coupling through the holes?
No i cant
If you can’t see inside your coupling then your inserts are still in there!, try to remove the locking washer from the top, then use some sort of bolt extractor to remove the insert, I shall take some pictures on the weekend if you find it hard to understand what I mean.
The Timing on the 1P motor is Identical with the PF & PB motors,
In fact the only difference between your 1P & the 8v GTI motors is the ECU, mechanically they are identical!
your ECU is set to a maximum of 98 bhp, the PF & the PB have 112bhp but the Katalysator on the PF costs 5 bhp
After checking in ETKA I can say that the Dizzy with the Vacuum advance is NOT fitted to the 1P motor,
it is only fitted to either the GU (Carburettor 90bhp) or RH (Also Carburettor 85 bhp) motorcodes,
the 1991 1P motor has either P/N 037 905 205F (Late 90 to early 91) or P/N 037 905 205K (late 91) – the 89 to 90 1P dizzy is P/N 037 905 205.

I understood what you wrote. Dont have take pictures. Thank you.
Chris s: Ok, i got to believe you. I’m going to check that did he mean something else. Thank you again.
Can you take pictures of your coupling for me to see what has happened to it?
Yes yours do look like they have been Heli-coiled, don’t know why they have done that, there is a chance that by drilling the hole out to fit the heli-coils they have damaged the insert itself. The locking washers seem to have been removed from yours so don’t know why they didn’t spot it was an insert. You could still try and remove the inserts, good luck and thanks for putting the picture up.
