MemberHi all. just joined this forum as im in the process of building a mk3 golf syncro/haldex hybrid VR6. Basically im in need of the rear swing arm subframe and vr6 syncro swing arms (5×100 pcd) i have the haldex diff ready to transplant. my first idea was to fit a tt rear floorpan and all the gubbins to fit the diff drive, shafts etc, etc. but after a good long think (painfull that!lol) im sold on the relative ease of the sycro conversion as there is less cutting and chopping required. does anyone have any contacts in the fatherland for syncro parts?? ive been pouring over Fleabay.de with little success. i seem to remember a company in Slough called Supergolfs who were importing Cars and some rare parts from the continent a while back, but i dont seem to be able to find them any more?? i thought i could of asked them to throw a set up in the container to bring back to Blighty. any help on sourcing parts would be gratefully recieved,
Mart.

I suspect ChrisS will be along in a mo – this is the sort of thing he helps people out with fairly regularly.
Good luck with your project.

MemberThanks very much, the engine has been a bit of a headache of recent, it a purpose built turbo 3.0l affair hence the 4wd needed.will the 4 motion rear outer C.V joint splines match up to the 5 x 100 hub or is there a bit of multi-coloured swap shop action needed?[?]

MemberFair dos, nice set up, what is the availability of mk3 golf syncro parts at present? were there as many made as the mk2 golf? are they readily available in breakers yards? i know only na handfull were imported into the uk compared with the mk2..
March 13, 2008 at 11:53 am #4227Chris S
ModeratorActually there were no Official VW Golf 3 Syncro UK imports, so the Golf 3 spares are a bit scarcer than the Golf 2 syncro however the 3 Syncro parts are mostly compatable with the Golf 2 Syncro, and also the Passat 35i Syncro parts are mostly the same as well, so you can get most things.

Memberi take it most parts excluding the rear subframe are inter-changeable as that dictates the rear track width, please correct me if i am wrong?
March 13, 2008 at 8:33 pm #4238Chris S
ModeratorThe rear subframe is interchangable between the Golf 2, Golf 3, & Passat 35i al long as you use the correct side mounting brackets,
its the triangular swing arms that control the track, have a look here [:p]http://www.vwsyncro.co.uk/data/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=459
I have a wide track rear axle from a G3 VR6 Syncro fitted to my G2 (I swapped the 6 pot diff for a 4 cylinder one)

ModeratorWolfy, your VR6 drivetrain, which VR6 did it come from Golf or Passat?

MemberSorry to jump in on your thread but wolfyvr6 I am after the same set up you have just got in from Germany. I was thinking of buying a complete mk3vr6syncro so I had all the bits and swap it into the mk2. Did you get all the bits you needed from the guy and know the history of the running gear?
