All help welcomed thabks guys and help.October 10, 2013 at 12:42 pm #10331Housey
Participantthis is the ABF 16v DOHC 150hp version right?
should be just to stick down there. if your car is CE2 the wiring will pop right back into your relaybox
the MK2 gearbox fits. you can also use the current subframe.
yes, you can keep the syncro. but you will have to get creative with the exhaust.
there arn’t many 16v syncro manifold out there, and if you find one, they probably won’t fit the ABF which is a tall block

good luck

ParticipantRight then guys i was thinking what engine would be the best for getting the most speed out of my car in relation with how hard and how much work and money is will cost.
VR6 mk3
DOHC 2.0 16v mk3
1.8 16v KR mk2?October 10, 2013 at 6:46 pm #10334Chris S
Moderator2.0 16V mk3 should be as cheap & easy as the 1.8 16 valver to fit
& with 1 of these
will give you this
The chip was made on dyno as the car produced 171BHP and 210NM with standard camshafts, This car had also catalyic converter removed.
While the VR6 motor is a heavy lump to have sat in the nose of a Golf 2.
what ever motor you fit you will have to modify the exhaust manifold anyway.

ModeratorFor that power you really need an 02C cablechange gearbox, its stronger & a bit longer geared as well.
