so it’s not going to turn oldtimer in 2011 then (in a tax sense at least)?
repeels – why could the swap only happen when it’s an oldtimer?
Because then your log book does not have any engine details registered, so you can fit what engine you want, even a diesel, which is normally taxed at 3 times the rate of a similar petrol engined car, the dutch road tax (weg belasting) for my G2 petrol Syncro is now 415 euros per year, if I fitted an similar sized diesel motor my tax would then be over 1200 euros per year!
doh! sorry repeels, I missed that you were in belgium… ok that makes a bit more sense now.. apologies for the confusion!
no prob ld, but it’s not exactly that, he hasn’t gotta be checked every year when he’s an oldtimer(keuring=> chris translate [][:p] ), engine swaps are totally NOT allowed in belgium so it’s better to wait []
Edit,
Translation, Keuring in English is testing,
Here in Netherland our MOT is called the ‘APK’ that is short for the Algemene Periodieke Keuring or General periodic testing (& my car passed it yesterday Hurrah) [] Chris
and taxes are 60 quid, no more, no less :p
ah interesting – and yes makes complete sense now
Here is what I pay for road tax for my Syncro with a petrol engine & a weight of 1070 kilos
For a private car of 25 years and older you pay no road tax. If your car 25 reaches years of age, then you (automatically) get reported that you must no more road tax pay.
Here is the same formula but with a diesel motor instead of petrol
Uitkomst berekening
Motorrijtuigenbelasting per kwartaal: € 230,00
Motorrijtuigenbelasting per jaar: € 908,00 []
congrats with your mot-ed car chris!
