what is transferable drivechain-wise from a country to a regular golf syncro?

Everything, the only difference is the differential its 4.4 to 1 for the Syncro & 4.8 to 1 for the Country

jolly good. Ive just bought a Country project and hes done alot of the refurbishing and rebuilding that id intended to do- short cut to the Golf being finished eh! and i get to drive a Country as a daily. Front or rear diff different? If its the front then ill kep my own gearbox that i refurbished

No, not the 4WD diffs the actual 2WD type final drive type diff (crown wheel & pinion)

got you now. Ill leave the drivechain where it is and use it as a 3d haynes manual
