For sale – Grey RHD 1989 (F reg) VW Golf Syncro

I’m reluctantly putting my Golf Syncro up for sale after several years of ownership. The bodywork and interior are in excellent original condition and the engine needs some minor work but otherwise runs well. Quite a few extras – see below.

I’ll be looking for sensible offers given that this is a close-to-original example of a car that is becoming increasingly rare – only 25 left on the road as of Q1 2015.

I’ve advertised it here initially as this site has been very helpful over the years – if it doesn’t sell here then it’ll go on eBay. It was also originally owned by one of the members of this site.

~141,000 miles
GTI head on original 1.8l engine
New Weber 32/34 DTML
6+ months MOT (need to double check exactly how long)
Three sets of wheels:
– Nearly-new Vredestein Sportrac on original VW BBS alloys
– Nearly-new Vredestein Snowtrac on G60-style steels
– Part-worn tyres (not sure of make) on unknown alloys

Recent work:
Minor welding on sills at jacking points
Replaced clutch
Replaced worn GTI interior with like-new original grey interior
New speakers front and rear (under original grilles)

Required work:
Oil leak from sump – needs new sump gasket

There is no tax to sell, the new owner must tax it for himself & you cash in the old tax disc with Swansea.
