Hungry_Horse_1955Right, I am now embarking on a major upgrade of various electrical items now that I have had a Toad Ai606 alarm fitted. What I would like to know is has anyone had any problems in carrying out any of the upgrades listed below?
1) Central locking integrated with alarm.
The guy who fitted the alarm recomended the Maplin kit for £21.99.
2) Boot lock change.
I’m going to rob the boot button from my GL (change the barrel) and add a door lock motor from Maplin to integrate with the central locking.
3) Boot popper.
Using another door lock motor from Maplin. (don’t know if this is possible though).
4) Sun Roof Closure.
Again using the alarm to close the sunroof when I turn on the alarm (use relay, diode and capacitor!).
5) Turn on/off radio with alarm.
As the Golf has no accessory setting on the ignition switch I’m going to add some latching relays to turn on the power to the radio as soon as the alarm turns off. And off when the alarm turns on!
6) Interior Light dimmer.
Thought I would have to add an interior light delay, but the light comes on when the alarm is turned off until you turn on the ignition so will only add a dimmer. Any recommendations on what to use? Have heard that Mk4/5 Fiesta dimmer will fit!
