i’ve read the guides on removing the gearbox and transfer box, all seems fairly straight forward, although i am thinking it may be easier to just whip the whole engine/gearbox out altogether….

…but before i bite the bullet this weekend, has anyone got any hints or tips on how i should remove the gearbox and transfer box?

It’s normally easier to have the whole lot out and work on it on the deck then put the whole lot back in.

    Whole lot out, for sure.

When you’re lifting in and out the key thing to watch is the prop into the back of the transfer box – there’s a seal there which can get mangled easily.

Oh and to remove the rod-change box and transfer box you need to rotate the complete unit round a little, or it won’t come off.

I did a Rallye gearbox change recently. I Thought I could fit the whole lot in with the engine in place LOL

In the end I split the Gbox and Tbox, then fitted the gearbox to the engine (still in the bay), then fitted the tbox.

I’ll be going with the engine/box out option, lol, all depends on the weather this weekend though i suppose.
