Im doing a syncro swap in my scirocco. I was wondering what has to be connected in the rear to have it work. All that I can find is the electrical connections can be left disconnected. But do the vacum hoses need to be hookedup??
If so where do I hook up these vacum hoses.
This is a 92 passat syncro setup.
Thanks,
Kevin
You need the electric connections and the vacuum conection to control the 4wd diff lock & freewheel, the vacuum pipe goes from the 3 ball vacuum res under the front wing to the diff & the cables go to the Syncro specific reverse light switch on the gearbox
Sorry for my mistake. I meant I just want the 4wd to work when im driving forward. I don’t care about the reverse AWD.
Can I just leave everything unplugged in the back and don’t have to worry about wreaking anything??
Kevin
No, you shouldn’t leave things disconnected. If you’ve ever driven a Syncro you’ll be familiar with the occasional *BANG* as the freewheel releases drive to the back axle when you put it into reverse. this is necessary to release the tension in the drivetrain or you are going to start breaking things.
