I have a noticable loss of power steering (and fluid evident under the pump) on both my Jetta and Golf Syncro.

Is this a common fault and if its just a seal, where can I get one and how easy is it to fit?

There are no individual spare parts available from VW, so you will have to replace the complete pump, but as they cost well over 300 pounds each new I think it may be time for a trip to the scrapyard, or you could try & replace the front seal if you can get one from a bearing/seal supplier.

PAS pumps arn’t servicable, if it’s not makeing pressure or has run dry it will have chewed itself internaly. GSF do replacements for £86.50
