    Hello!
I have a problem with finding the differential/output shaft for AXR tranny.
The ratio for AXR is 4.86. I know that 4Z tranny’s diff (4.47) can be installed to AXR. However, both of them is hardly to get where I live.
Could anyone suggest any replacement that will fit AXR?
Also heard that diff/output shaft from diesel tranny is compatible…
I have checked with ETKA and the only diesel tranny that is close to AXR ratio is AVX with ratio of 4.25…
    Thanks in advance.

I think you mean part nr 009 409 143C can you confirm this please?

    Hi Chris!
Yes 009 409 143C is the one that refers to AXR.
Any chances to fit spares from a non-syncro tranny?

The 2 gears (Crown wheel & Pinion)are a matched pair and the AXR Country gearbox is the only box in the VW range to use a 68/14 tooth ratio, the std syncro uses p/n 009 409 143 with a 67/15 tooth pattern.

you could fit a complete standard Golf Syncro gearbox, this will lower your revs slightly at speed & increase your fuel economy but other than thay you wont notice much difference.

    right, that’s clear…
I just wondered that any 4g trannys from diesel golf have identical tooth ratio.
    AKW – 65/16 – 084 409 143 A;
    or AKX – 64/14 – 084 409 143 A.
The only problem there is the output shaft…
However, just wondered whether it is possible to use output shaft from AXR and crown wheel from diesel tranny.
Any ideas whether that will work?

Sorry but it wont work because the pinion & crown wheel gears are a matched pair, you cant even but them seperately from VW, only as a pair,

btw do you have skype? you can e-mail me your skype adress.

    No unfortunately I don’t.

I might have a standard pair (p/n 009 409 143 with a 67/15 tooth pattern) about somewhere though, not sure till I look.

other than this everything is ok…
it is just a damaged rear gear tooth’s particle got in between the pair.
I just wonder if I put it back as it is…

To be honest I have refitted them in this condition without any problems.

Thanks for the response Chris. I have mentioned the ‘sound’ only when reversing. When going onwards everyting was fine.
Will try to put it back and in the meantime prepare the swap onto 02C tranny.

    Thanks!
