Third gear sticking

Today the my syncro has started to stick in third gear – I can get it out if I let the car roll a bit but it definitely gets stuck. It also popped out of third into neutral a couple of times. I did a search as I’m sure someone had the same symptoms but came up with nothing… any thoughts?

It sounds like your internal 3rd gear selector is a bit worn.

Is that gearbox rebuild territory?

Unfortunately yes it is,[]
so it might be time for an 02C gearbox upgrade? [:p]

I think you may be right… I was debating a full rebuild of the engine (either the current one or a second hand one) as well as transmission… anyone got that lying around?

Why not go for a 2 liter 2E motor?

Well I was intending to keep it relatively original – I don’t really need speed as I’ve got a motorbike for that… Relatively speaking, all cars are slow!

Its not about the power as the 2E only has 115bhp, but it has a lot more torque for digging yourself out of holes!
