ParticipantThe handbrake cables were broken in the car when I bought it, I’m looking to replace them. Just standard syncro drum handbrake cables.
I pay via paypal and they will have to be posted to Republic of Ireland.
Thanks

ParticipantHey Chris,
thanks for that, I have contacted them and will buy from them if I have no alternative, just want to see if anyone has a second hand set lying around after converting to discs that they wouldn’t mind getting a few pound for.

ModeratorNormally when people convert to discs they find that the H/Brake cables are damaged either before or during removal.
Dont forget that most people are still using their original cables which are now more than 20 years old.
While they may (for a time) pull as originally fitted but when you flex them in a new way (by refitting them to a different car)they tend to break!
Given the cost of new cables @ 35.80 eu each, its truly false economy to fit 2nd hand ones.

ParticipantA fair point. In that case I’ll wait for these guys to respond.

ModeratorWhen parts are available from Classic parts, it means that VW themselves no longer have any & they are no longer being made.
After Classic parts sell their last one, thats it! no more new ones anywhere, so it makes even more sense to fit them now rather than try in a year or so when there are possibly no longer available.
And if in the future you ever have to scrap your car, then a set of nearly new cables will be worth more than they cost you today.

ParticipantThey replied, they have them in stock. Is there a left and a right? Or will part number 191609721C work on either side?
