Does any body know why the Rallye propshaft rear coupling / donut has a balance weight attached? I believe the early syncro did not have this. What I really need to know is what would happen if I removed this. I know the Rallye front donut will fit fine (I have tried it) but I am worried what effect it will have. I would still get the propshaft balanced if it would help make the propshaft OK. Any advice much appreciated. The reason I would like to do this is it would give me more clearance for my exhaust.

Its a balance weight, it is supposed to smooth out the power delivery & prevent chattering, it also acts as a heatshield.
if you need a new one? I have a good used one here

I don’t need one mine is fine, (thanks for the offer). I just would like to remove it to give me more clearance for my exhaust.I have fitted the camber / toe plates to my rear beam & there is not a lot of space between the adjusting bolt & this balance weight. My exhaust is 2½ inches in diameter.
