    Hey my starter burnt out this week so I’m looking for a new/used/cheap one. Does the Syncro have a specific starter or would one from any 1.8 petrol VAG unti fit.
    The starter has 3 mounting holes, 2 for the starter and one that seems to be part of the engine mount. It is also quite long and skinny.

    Virtually any 020 (not 02C) VW starter motor will fit, the latest part number is 020 911 023F.
