    Found a handy website, no doubt many of you probably been using it for years, i searched google to see if i could find etka catalouge and this was the first link, http://www.vagcat.com theres a section for the golf/syn./rallye/country containing brokedown technical diagrams of many things, you also get a list off the parts names and numbers next to the diagram you look at, rough price guide. pricing is in euro’s and somethings seemed a bit pricey to me. all i had to do is register e-mail and basic details takes 2 mins.

    in the section for hand, and footlevers, safety covers i found diagram for

    VACUUM RESERVOIR
    VACUUM HOSES
    FINAL DRIVE
    THROTTLE CONTROL ELEMENT

    basically the system on my car does not look like the diagram, in the bonnet department, the tube follows round the back of the bulkhead and has a T- piece going somewhere to something under the hood, mine misses this mine takes a direct route from the 3 ball resoviour over to the drivers side then goes downa hidden bit only to appear at the back axle,

    now from past reading on this site i understand this is a pretty important part for a freewheel in the axle also electronically controled.

    so whats the verdict, should i worry about it having a missing t-piece and possible missing vacuum or should i just keep saving for my 1.8t 4motion conversion

    my 4×4 syncro system seems to work fine no strange noises cant say for 100% if it works in reverse i need to get her on some grass.

    its been equipped with a webber at some point im presuming the t piece went to the old pooberg or one of it’s many vacuum connections?

    Removing the carb vacuum system on the Pierburg should not impact the actuation of the rear diff freewheel – it pulls the vacuum from a separate reservoir, although it is supplied from the same source. If there is an uncapped t-piece you should cap it, or remove it.

    Just be pleased you have a Weber fitted.
