    My syncro has a towbar. If you press the brake pedal with the trailer wiring connected, brake lights light up on both the trailer and the car – but so do the car’s reversing lights!

    Any suggestions on what might this be? I’m guessing maybe bad earth, but I guess it’s also possible the wiring hasn’t been done right (not by me!). Also does anyone know if the towbar wiring is the same for the syncro as the standard golf? If so I’ll use the haynes wiring diagrams to help with fault-finding…

    It should be the same as the std 2wd Golfie.

    Is it done with scotchlock connectors of 1 of the rear light units? if so it is very likely to be the earth connection.

    Yeah it’s just DIY’d in, so I also suspect the earth. No time to sort this yet, hopefully should have by the weekend…
