Very nice pics, Thats the same set up i bolted to my rallye,
now then fellers im having an exaust made and fitted next weekend was quoted 280 quid for a full system from the manifold right out the back with stanless steel lifetime garuntee. just thought and looked on your diagram it says it needs a catalyst is that right. it also says N/A what does that mean not avalable. could i have one made without the catalyst. not sure what im on about. catalysts were non compulsory up to 1993 i believe. would it gain more less power without one is it legal does it need one etc etc etc. any help welcome thanks in advance
kev
oh yeah sorry its a 1989 golf syncro 1.8
thanks again kev
You are not obliged to have a cat fitted if your car was made before 1992,
so all Golf 2 models are ok without cats, as long as they will pass the emissions (CO2) test, the figure for the carb version is 3.5% and for the injection its 0.5%
the 4 gas test does not apply to most of our cars as they are too old
BTW, A cat absorbs about 5bhp or so on the 1800 motor. []
**** hot chris, by the way thanks for all your help mate you have sorted me out loads, if i see you at any shows the beers are on me, i.e vw festival sunday lol
I would love to, but unfortunately its a bit far to come from Holland.
Are you sure it includes the manifold? The price sounds right for a cat back system! I had a Power Flow 2″ system fitted from the manifold back on my Country, with the Cat removed and it cost around £350. You can get ‘Hi-Flow’ cats which only reduce the the power by 1 or 2 bhp, but they cost a few hundred quid. A decent manifold will also cost a couple of hundred quid in stainless steel (see g-werks website).
