This is a 4WD 02J (I think!) gearbox for four-cylinder engines, believed to be from a Skoda Octavia of some kind.
I’m saying it’s an 02J because I’ve seen that on the casting, but someone please correct me if I’m wrong.
The reason I have this gearbox is because I originally bought it along with a complete set of MK3 VR6 Syncro transmission parts from PhatVR6/Phatty. The gearbox was supplied to me because it is suitable for use with the VR6 Syncro transfer box. I bought all these parts because I was going to build my own Syncro. I changed plans and didn’t use any of the parts because I bought a G60 Syncro instead.
This gearbox is of the type that provides an oil channel to the transfer unit. As stated already, it’s a gearbox to suit four-cylinder engines (not VR6). I make the assumption, although I don’t know for sure, that it’ll work with any Syncro transfer box, as long as it’s the later type of transfer box that takes the oil feed from the gearbox (the earlier transfer boxes have self-contained oil).
I’m afraid I can’t tell you anything else about this gearbox than what I’ve already said. I don’t know what the specific code is for it. Some codes are shown in the pictures but I gather these are simply casting codes. I could not find a gearbox code anywhere.
I don’t really know what it’s worth because I had it as part of a job lot as already stated. So I’ll start at £250 and see what happens.
Thanks
