ParticipantOn the final leg of my mission, 2.0 16v Syncro.
I am looking into several exhaust options at the mo
Does anyone know if a LHD Rallye manifold will fit a RHD car?
Cheers

ModeratorIt is 8v and wont fit the 16v head

ParticipantSorry my bad….I meant downpipe.
Basicaly was thinking of getting a manifold made to replicate the rallye/g60 one (but 16v attachment instead), then mating the standard rallye downpipes (& system) to it.

ParticipantManifold wise, a Rallye is not going to adapt to a 16v head, port spacing on 8 & 16v engines are seriously different. Rallye downpipe doesn’t fit that easy ask TC. looking in to having a manifold made myself for the 16v head, give shout if you find anywhere that’ll do one for reasonable money and they can make one for me as well.

ParticipantThink if I solve this problem I will be minted! LOL

When I get to a usable soloution I will post up some results.

ParticipantThe only way of resolving this issue is to remove the steering column.
If you don’t want to do that then you’ll need to take a big chunk out of the tunnel and weld that back up, AS WELL as cutting off one of the Rallye downpipes and making numerous changes to the route of one of the pipes. Have a look at my 2.0 conversion thread in the tuning and upgrades section.
You need to bear in mind that the spacing of the studs on the downpipe is different on (as far as I can make out) every single engine variant out there.
Good luck and get out your cutting and welding implements.

ParticipantBig thanks for that.
All I can say WOW, that is some extreme modding you have done to get that zorst to fit.
Not sure I am that creative with the grinder & welder

Not sure wether to just Trubo the bugge now, at leat there will be only one pipe to worry about LOL

ParticipantI have been seriously thinking of turboing mine, got the turbo and manifold and just having a single 2 1/2 downpipe but atm have gone off the idea of 16vt, as I think could have more fun in pushing the car with an NA motor and it’s less likely to go boom. this ones going to be 8 valves for a while yet anyway.

ParticipantThe downpipe was done in about an evening. The big change is in that footwell – that took about three evenings, plus the time to take out and replace the dash (saved setting it on fire).

(that’s ‘for the win’ FYI [

ParticipantThough I would revise this thread

Looking through clubgti and found this:

This conversion is a VR6 Syncro drivetrain / engine into a RHD Corrado, exhaust pipework has been done without cutting the footwell.

ParticipantYou revise away.
I take it you’re revising your engine to a VR6, like that one, so you can fit a downpipe like the one pictured?
I only ask because where those pipes are leaving the manifold is totally different to on a Rallye manifold.
If you’re sticking to the 16V then you’re looking at a totally different manifold and downpipe set-up to the one pictured. I would suspect that the engine requirements for the exhaust are considerably different on the 16vV vs the VR6.
Best of luck with not cutting the firewall – I just couldn’t see a way around it.

ModeratorI will post photos of the G60 Syncro & the VR6 pipes later this week end, if I forget will someone please give me a nudge
btw, the lower half of both pipes is identical.

LOL – no sticking with the 16v set-up at the mo.
Just exploring possibilities i.e. if its poss to combine the g60 & VR6 downpipes. As a quicker/easier solution than modding the firewall (which is a perfectly fine solution too
