Hi,
I purchased a complete set of bushes (PFlex) for a Golf Rallye. It appears the bushes will not fit the ARB, bit will fit the old Syncro ARB, as per the OEM.
Do you have to modify the PFlex items?

Front or rear?
At the front, the original non Rallye bar is 21.5mm diameter while the Rallye one is 23mm.
At the rear, the original non Rallye bar is 18.5mm diameter while the Rallye one is 20mm.
[]Opps forget to mention….yes its the rear ARB. I can also confirm they are only arround £45 from UK dealers as well.
With those ARB measurements it seems I will need to increase the diameter of the hole in the bushes by a further 1.5mm.
Or this a job for a drill bit?

A)That depends if the powerflex bushes are the same material all the way through? if they are then I cant see any problems.
Yes bushes are just one material all the way through, time for some drill action then.

Measured the diamter of the PFlex rear ARB bushes with my trusty digital calipers, they are 18mm (same as OEM syncro bushes)
Got on to PFlex this morning, they checked their stock and confirmed the diameter was also 18mm. They were slightly baflled as they themselves state it should be 20mm (same as OEM rallye bushes). Also that the extra 2mm would make the bush excessively tight on the Rallye ARB.

I said I would ask arround the forums to see if anyone had encountered probs fitting them to their Rallye.
On the plus side for Syncro owners, it appears the PFlex arb bushes for the Rallye will fit the standard syncro 18.5mm ARB.
Any comments appreciated.
The 18mm one is the rubbish one that everyone should replace with the Rallye item – this removes the pig-understeer that VW built into the Syncro out of the box.
Pointless fitting Powerflex ARB bushes, if your car’s still going to try to head towards the straight on whenever you get to a corner.
