does anyone know if i can block up the oilways on a rallye gearbox (asu) in order to use it with a non-oilways transfer box? could i just tap a thread and put a plug in it?

thanks chris, can you recommend any particular bits? i don’t have any large taps, i measured the oilways at 22mm and 15mm. not sure if vw do any core plugs in that size. would hopefully plug them up so i can unplug them in the future if i need to.
failing that i suppose the dreaded silicone..

I thought that as well, or could you possibly use a wooden dowel plug and JB weld??? the wooden dowel would stop any JB weld falling inside the gearbox where it might cause damage.

btw, if you do tap and bolt it, then it is not easily reversable if you ever want to fit an oilway transfer box. [:(]

ta. i have found some core plugs on ebay but he wants too much money. might just degrease it and whack some silicone in.
