MemberHello all, first post and it’s a typical help me question ! I’ve got a Golf Rallye and recently the transfer box prop bearing got all mangled and oil was all over the place. Anyway, it’s in my local garage at the moment and they have some of the replacement parts but they’re struggling to get one of them. The part they are struggling to get hold of I’m being told is a bearing carrier flange on the output shaft of the transfer box. It’s a part that’s held on by 8 screws (if that helps!). VW can get the part, but it isn’t the correct one for my transfer box and apperantly there were two types. Does anyone have any ideas where I might be able to get this part from ? Any help or leads would be appreciated. Thanks.

ModeratorDo you know if you have the early or late type gearbox? (thats either with or without oilways from the gearbox to the transfer box?)
also it it the flange to the propshaft or the right hand front driveshaft?
I can then check with my dealer to see whats available

ModeratorI just checked & the propshaft flange for the early type (without oilways) is no longer available from the dealer over here either,
I am not sure but I think rallyemike may have a used one, you could always email & ask him.

MemberThanks for the replies Chris. I’m still trying to find out if I have an early or late gearbox (I’m thinking it’s probably earlier). It’s the flange to the propshaft that I’m after.
Do you have an e-mail address for rallyemike ?

MemberChris, do you have a part number ? It might make my search a lot easier, thanks.

ModeratorThe early one is P/N 02C 409 126
The later one is P/N 02C 409 126Ayou can find part numbers at vagcat.com

MemberI spoke to the parts guy at the VW garage that supplied my garage with the parts and he said they delivered part 02C 409 126A and that was the wrong one. He said the other one is deleted on his system so it looks like I do indeed need part number 02C 409 126.
Chris, thanks again, you’ve been a big help.

ModeratorIt helps a lot when you have copies of ETKA going back to 1999!
Unfortunately the earlier one is deleted on my system as well [
