Lound clunk when reversing

    I’ve used the search facility so apologies if I’ve missed this. What causes the loud clunk from the rear diff when starting to reverse? Is it the freewheel lock so you have 4WD in reverse or as some have said, the rear diff disengaging?

    Yes its the freewheel lock, or at least it usually is.

    They all do that, sir. Even my T4 Syncro Caravelle and that’s a BIG clunk!
