I’ve had a bit of an incident with my exhaust and am looking for a replacement. The exhaust snapped just in front of the rear driveshaft so I’m looking for something to fit from there over the driveshaft to the back.

What I was thinking is would it be possible to bodge an exhaust from a Golf syncro on to the Jetta as these are easier to get hold of than Jetta ones. Alternately is there a piece from something I can fit to go over the driveshaft then I can stick a different backbox on. Anything to avoid having to spend £350 for a custom made system….Any suggestions welcome.

Before you ask the original is beyond repair. The area where it snapped it had been repaired 3 times previously and the tailpipe is crushed flat ….. don’t ask [:I]

    Cheers

Yes you should be able to weld a Golf rear box onto the Jetta pipe

Cheers Chris I thought it should fit.

I’ll prob need somne sort of extension patching in as a golf zorst is a bit shorter than a Jetta one isn’t it?

I am not sure, I think the box itself may be the same length but with a longer over axle pipe, hopefully so anyway, you need to ask someone who has or had a Jetta Syncro, I know (among others) diamond hell & jsync have owned one at sometime or other.

I didn’t interfere with the end of the exhaust on my Jetta, I’m afraid. I would agree with you that you’re likely to need to weld an extension on the end of the box. Hopefully that should be all though.
