Jetta GTX 16V Syncro
MemberWhen doing the Syncro conversion, does the FWD center console from the Mk2 Golf/Jetta fit the new taller tunnel and what about the carpet?
July 13, 2015 at 10:23 pm #11011Chris S
ModeratorThe 2WD console is to tall & will not fit, the 2WD G60 console will fit though.
The 2WD carpet also will not fit over the transmission tunnel as its to short.July 14, 2015 at 12:25 am #11012Jetta GTX 16V Syncro
MemberThat’s what I suspected on both items. I’m sure I can find a console used but what about the carpet is it possible to get a new one for my Jetta?
July 14, 2015 at 10:33 am #11013Chris S
ModeratorNo, the carpet is no longer available new.
However people have been known to slice the carpet along the centerline & either tape or sew a suitable 2 inch(ish) wide strip of similar carpet in, it fits then!

MemberHumm. [
] Do you know if all the Syncro carpets are the same, 2 door vs. 4 door? Looks like I’ll have to source a used set.July 14, 2015 at 4:29 pm #11015Chris S
ModeratorLooking in ETKA 2 & 4 door carpets have the same part number, so should be the same.
I will look when I swap mine over from 2 door to 4 door

MemberWhat is this hole circled in yellow? My car does not have this.
September 30, 2015 at 2:37 pm #11124Chris S
ModeratorIts the plastic warm air vents to the rear footwells, they are the flat things in photo on the sides of the propshaft tunnel.

MemberI am not sure if my 16V Jetta has those things already but I do not think so. I know the Golf Syncro that I sourced the tunnel does not have them.

ModeratorI think that they were only fitted to certain Syncro models & possibly the other high tunnel Golfs.
Part number is 191 819 803 or 803A depending on year -
