hi guys!im from italy and i’m trying to tune a little my golf mk2 syncro…my engine is a GU:i decided to swap the head and the cams from a golf country (1P engine, same head and cams of the PB engine, right?)and to install a weber dmtl 32/34…my question is..is a good idea to remove the “wings” of the heater element situated in the bottom of the manifold and bolted on with 3 bolts to make the manifold better flowing?will i have problems in winter? do you think that the manifold will need to be ported to match the head ports?
any idea about how much hp it will be running, approx?thank you very much!

Yes correct, but you will need to block the injector holes up to run with a carb

    Now have a look here

How cold does it get in Italy in winter?

yes i know that i have to block the injectors holes!
in italy in winter we have around 0°C when it snow…the lowest temperature this year was about -3°C
so what do you think about the manifold?
another question is the header:the GU engine use the same exhaust header of the PB?i have a passat g60 syncro header and downpipe, wonder if it flows better than the GU and if it worth to be installed on my car…thank you in advance!

i’d be tempted to keep the manifold pre-heater at those temps…

use the G60 manifold & exhaust, the PB one will not fit as it is meant for a 2wd car and the downpipe will foul the transfer box.

I have a G60 Syncro exhaust manifold & downpipe fitted to mine and it does make a difference. [}:)]

good!what you had done to connect the downpipe to the rest of your exhaust system?is the corrado g60 the same exhaust header of the passat g60 syncro or rallye golf?i know that the downpipe is different but i wonder if the iron part that is bolted to the head is the same on all the g60 engines
other opinions about the heater element?

sorry for my english if i done any mistake!

If by header you mean the manifold? then the only item which will fit is the G60 Syncro one, all the 2WD ones cause the downpipe(s) to try & run through the space where the transfer box sits,
I removed the cat and replaced it with 2 gti silencer boxes mounted by side, I then connected it into the rest of the (original) system with a y piece
