Hey all
If this is not the right place to post this topic, sorry…I have a VW Golf GTi G60 Syncro, from 91, with Aircondition. The car has been rebuild with a 20vt audi S3 engine and it goes sweet. The car was picked up in the UK this summer
So my question is – does any know how many of these there is produced ? I have read between 80 and 170 in webpages, but it would be nice to know how many exactly is produced. It is a 3 doors model, and that i have been told is more seldom and the aircondition even more – but i dont know – hope you can help me….

Jesper – DenmarkI have a G60 Syncro (3 door, A/C, Edition One), and too I have been wanting to know how many were produced. I think there are already a number of old threads on this forum on this subject.
The problem is that there are a LOT of figures suggested on various internet sites, and yet I have never seen any convincing evidence to verify any of these figures. I think that most of these figures are numbers that somebody has once guessed.
In fact, somewhere on this forum is a quote from a letter from VW that shows that even VW themselves cannot provide any G60 Syncro figures.
Not so long ago there was a guy in the UK on Edition38 selling a red G60 Syncro with A/C, and he was claiming only 70 were made with A/C. Apparently this figure came from the VW Museum in Wolfsburg, through a friend of his. Sorry, but I’m not prepared to just believe it.

For me it doesnt matter if there is made 70 or 500, i would just be nice to know, here in Denmark they are very rare, the Rallye is seen much more (and offcourse with 5000 examples), and every time i see an ad for the Rallye it says – VERY RARE MODEL – ONLY MADE IN 5000 EXAMPLES, then it would be fun to know

Jesper.I also have a 3door G60 Syncro, it did come with aircon from the factory, but the previous owner removed the air con rad and pump, its something i’d like to put back in at some point.

I have heard that approximately 1500 or so G60 Golf Syncro cars were made, how true it is is anybodys guess though!
In ‘The Golf +’ mag they’ve written an article an a G60 Syncro with an R36 engine in it. In the write up they say …..180 G60 Syncro’s made, allegedly only 25 in 3 door.
If VW cant tell us then we’ll probably neverknow for sure.I’ve written to the VW in Germany, and they have forwarded my letter to the VW museum, so hopefully we might get some info on how many where made.
Finally got my Answer from the VW museum, And as nutter4x4 sid they don’t know or have any record.
If there are any others on here or if anyone know of any let me know and I’ll add them to here
