    hy

i’ve got a ’91 passat g60 syncro. i have problems with my first gear. no way can i pull it out when i stop or park, unless i push the car a little further (back or front). so it’s a pain in the ass if i park somewhere a little downhill, with a wall in front of the car… if i’m driving i can get it out with a little effort and it makes some rattle-ish sound. it jumps in first gear normally and all the other gears are working completely normal. clutch is ok too. and it doesn’t matter if the car is running or not. there’s enough oil in the gearbox as i changed it.

maybe it’s a coincidence, but i think this started happening after i had the car on MOT.

    thanks, Rok

It sounds like a problem with either the internal gear selector or the 1st gear syncro ring/selector hub, either way you will have to strip the tranny out to repair it.
