bonsaiburton53Up for sale is my h reg golf syncro. Bought it over a year ago now with only 92k and have rebult it as it needed some TLC, I have replaced the front suspension arms, top mounts, springs, dampers,rear wheel bearings, new brakes all round including drums and discs, new hand brake cables as well, the under neath has been blasted and wax oiled for the winter. Have just put it through the M.O.T and it passed first time but now the gearbox has gone stuck in 5th. I no longer have the money or the resources to buy and change the Box. Any reasonable offers considered

Chris SDoes the gear lever still feel like it is selecting the other gears or is it just flopping about & hanging over the side? if so it may be the linkage thats faulty.
You could put a new box in it or repair 5th gear, I think have all the parts needed to repair the 5th gear, you can have them for the cost of the postage if it helps?
btw the gearbox shouldnt need to come out for this repair! or you should be able to find a 2nd hand box for not more than 100 pounds
bonsaiburton53It feels like it is selecting gears but it does not select the gear you want and it won’t go in to neutral just stays in 5th, have tried to select gears from the stick and on the box it’s self but it does the same thing. Problem is i’m doing a motorsport engineering degree final year at the mo and i don’t have the time or the money any more to fix it

Chris SAs for a value, I would suggest asking 500 pounds, as it looks rust free & is a very tidy car, it also has a full mot and the gearbox is quite an easy repair.
