Hi everyone.
it’s been a while since I’ve used this forum, but I finally have some time again [].
I do have a question now… The rubber boot of the Right front inner CV joint is torn. Since I need to remove the driveshaft anyway, I’d like to replace all CV joint.
Can I just use any Mk2 CV joint to fit the syncro driveshaft? I’ve seen the partnumbers are different for the Right fron outside CV joint, but can’t imagine them being different.
Just making sure I won’t order the wrong parts!
Thanks for the info!!
It all depends on your vin number (model year) 1989/1990 was the model year changeover point, vin nrs are 1G-K-990 000 to end 89 (90mm inners) or 1G-L-000 00190 on (100mm inners)
2wd boots fit syncro shafts as long as you pick the correct size ( 90 – 100 mm )
Thanks for the first info. Let me explain some more [].
I have a modelyear 1987 (with the front mirrors halfway on the door), according to the VIN number it was built in 1987, it is a completely standard car, so with a rod change ‘box.
My biggest concern is the right front wheelside joint. I’ve been looking around on ebay.de, a certain CV joint fits on the left wheelside of a syncro, but not on the right side… This CV joint can be used on the right side of a non-syncro mk2…
Basically I want to know if there is indeed a difference between the left and right wheelside CV joint of an old syncro.
Thanks again for the info!
BTW: since the prices on ebay.de are so low for CV joints, I’ll be replacing all four joints, not just the boots []
According to ETKA the 4 CV joints you want are []
191 498 099CX Right outer
191 498 340 X Left outer
171 498 103CX Both inner
They are all std 2wd joints & boots
