Memberhi guys, i have lot of issues with my mk2 syncro…first i replaced the head with a PB head+cam, then i changed the pierburg 2e2 with a weber dtml 32/34…the problem is that no one is able to hepl me setting it up here in italy and the car runs bad and it’s very sensitive to weather changes…now i would like to convert it to a digifant fuel sistem…can anyone tell me what i have to do and what will be the best donor car?
i know that i’ll have to install a fuel pump…is there any differences between a pre 89/post 89 wiring for the job that i have to do? mine’s a 87 syncro,so still have the old wiring..thank you very much in advance!February 9, 2010 at 12:14 pm #6787Chris S
ModeratorThe best donor car will be a 8v GTI of the same year as your Syncro this will give you 112 bhp as standard, from 88 on the 8v gti was fitted with a Catalytic converter & a lambda sonde control circuit for the ECU,
Among other things you may need to change are
1) The in tank fuel gauge sender for 1 with an electric fuel pump + relevant wiring
2) An underfloor high pressure fuel pump + relevant wiring
3) The plastic fuel lines
4) The motor wiring harness
5) The air filter & ducting
6) The idle control valve & vacuum system
7) The inlet manifoldThen you must fit the
1) The relevant ECU
2) The fuel rail & injectorsPersonally, I think it would be a nightmare of a job
have you looked at this for help with tuning your Weber carb?

MemberGet the engine up to normal tepreature.
Screw in the mixture screw all the way, then back it off 2 turns.
Get the engine to run at 900rpm with the idle screw.
Then screw in the mix screw until the idle is nearer 800rpm.
Check the choke flap is fully open when the choke is pushed in.I have just replaced my carb but i also replaced the rubber gasket between the manifold and the carb as thease are prone to leak.
Also the inlet manifold gasket, but try the others first. Also check the fuel jets.
If you look down from the top of the carb you will see 4 brass screws. The 2 on the left do the slow speed. Take them out (carefully) and check to see they are not blocked.Try to stick with the weber as i have found them reliable.
Go to, webcon.co.uk. You can phone them if you are stuck.
