hi looking for a brake pressure regulator for my syncro on the rear. new or nearly new if possible part number is 357612151 there backordered in the uk with no date. cheap as chips please.
Just out of interest, these are not Syncro specific and the identical item it fitted to the 2WD Golfs as well as the 4WD versions,
btw there are 3 & 4 brake pipe versions as well, but they are all the same in side you just add/delete one of the fluid input pipes, There is either a straight connecter or a T piece at the back end of the front/rear brake pipe about 6 (pipe)inches front of the regulator where the change can be made.
The part number currently listed in ETKA for the syncro is the 4 pipe version. All the syncros I’ve seen have had the 3-pipe version which is no longer available from anyone I contacted.
As Chris said, both versions are identical internally, so all that needs to be done is plumb in a “T” fitting to split the single inlet pipe so it can be connected to the dual inlets of the 4 pipe regulator.
My 1989 Golf Syncro had the 4 pipe version, While my new VR6 axle has the 3 hole version.
Here in Canada, all the Passat G60 Syncros I’ve seen were 1992 models and had the 3 pipe version.
I just had a look at ETKA and figured out the situation for the Golf. But VW has made an error for the Passat Syncro.
All MkII Golf Syncro without ABS
Early MkII Golf Syncro with ABS up to 1987 (VIN >> ..-H-513 420)
Use the 4 pipe brake pressure regulator and had 2 pipes running from the master cylinder to the regulator.
Late MkII Golf Syncro with ABS (VIN ..-H-513 421>>)
Use the 4 pipe brake pressure regulator BUT had 1 pipe running from the master cylinder to the regulator, and a “T” fitting (Part # 803 611 755) just ahead of the regulator to split the incoming line.
ETKA shows the MkIII syncro as having the 4-pipe unit and 2 lines from the master. ETKA also shows the B3 Passat syncro as having the 4-pipe unit, but 1 single pipe from the master ans NO “T” fitting. I wonder why most of them had the 3 pipe unit then?[V]
hi guys mine is the 4 pipe version. does that mean i can fit a normal 2wd version with 3 holes?
Yes, thats just what I did when I swopped my rear axle out.
